Roberta Bernadette (McKeon) McCoskey, 81, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Roberta was a woman of many words, known for phrases such as "whatchamacallit" and "thingamagig." She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in New Albany.
Roberta will be remembered for her love of travel and exceptional budgeting skills. She was a mysterious woman, who often claimed there was a method to her madness. She will be most cherished as a loving mother, who raised six children by herself. Though she struggled to make ends meet, she taught her children a sense of morality, the importance of faith, and to never give up, no matter how dire the situation.
She was born on February 22, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, to Robert and Frances McKeon. She graduated from Midway High School in 1957. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Alice and Virginia; and her beloved son, Robert.
Roberta is survived by her children, Brian McCoskey, Tim McCoskey, Kent McCoskey, George McCoskey, and Debra McCoskey-Reisert; son-in-law, Steve Reisert; grandchildren, Candace, Meagan, Brian, Brandon, Gabrielle, Timmy, Roy, and Nicholas.
There was and never will be another one like her.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with cremation to follow.
The family requests that contributions in Roberta's memory be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, P.O. Box 100, Chamberlain, SD 57325. She always rooted for the underdog.
