Roberta Lee (Smith) Kirchgessner, 59, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 in New Albany, Indiana.
Roberta was born on October 7, 1953 to the late Robert & Ruth (Henderson) Smith. She was united in marriage to Merrell Joseph Kirchgessner, Sr. on June 14, 1980. Roberta was a devoted wife & mother. She loved taking rides to enjoy the country but what she loved most was spending time with her family.
Roberta is survived by her husband, Merrell Kirchgessner, Sr.; children, Merrell Kirchgessner, Jr., Patrick Kirchgessner, & Martin Kirchgessner; step-daughter, Rebecca Northern; siblings, Larry Smith (Nettie), Mary McKinley (Michael), Deborah Dreschel (Bill), Mark Smith (Stephanie), Colleen Kirchgessner (Donald), Corlis Turner; grandchildren, Cody & Shelby; brothers-in-law, Robert (Merlinda), Donald (Colleen), Melvin (Martha), Vernon (Patti), Irvin (Linda). Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Virginia Burton, Teresa Loftus, & Charles Smith; brother-in-law, Robert Turner.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM on Monday, May 6, 2013 at St. Joseph Hill Catholic Church (2605 St. Joe Road West, Sellersburg, IN) with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
