Roberta (Miller) Hammond, 91, a proud lifelong "river rat,"of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024. She retired from the Census Bureau and enjoyed playing euchre.
She was born on June 6, 1932 in Sycamore, Illinois. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. George and Dorothy (Bohart) Bennett; husband, Michael J. Hammond; sister, Dorothy Smith; and son-in-law, Daniel Darling.
Roberta is survived by her daughters, Sandra Shuler, Michelle Darling; grandchildren, Brittney Morales (Alonso), Michelle Shuler, Daniel Darling II (Shelonda); and great-grandchildren, Ian, Max, Marina, Lorelei, Sanibelle, Mauricio and Marisol.
Roberta's wish was to be cremated and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with her care. Contributions in her memory may be made to Hosparus Health - the Community Hospice of Southern Indiana (502 Hausfeldt Lane, New Albany, IN 47150).
