Robert Earl Whitson

Robert "Bobby" Whitson, 72, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

He was born on March 3, 1953, in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, to Robert and Louise Whitson, who preceded him in death.

Bobby was a man of simple pleasures and a big heart. He loved the outdoors—whether it was fishing, camping, or just soaking in the quiet moments that nature offered. He was a die-hard University of Kentucky fan, especially when it came to basketball. A lifelong fan of Lynyrd Skynyrd, he always had their music playing, especially the classic ‘Simple Man’.

Above all, Bobby was a family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Whitson; his daughter, Amy Lopez; his sons, Robert J. Whitson and Michael Whitson; and his grandchildren: Raul “Mo” Lopez, JoHanna Lopez, Makensie Moriarty, Lily Whitson, and Jordan Moriarty. He also leaves behind his loyal dog, Echo, who rarely left his side.

Bobby will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He left an impression wherever he went; he truly was “the man, the myth, the legend”.

Cremation was chosen following Bobby's wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a quiet walk in nature, cheer for the Wildcats, or play your favorite song in his memory.
