Robert Leslie "Bobby" White, was born December 5, 1946, to Leslie and Lauretta White in Bronx, New York. He was a product of the New York City public school system. He attended Evander Childs High School. It was there that he met and married high school girlfriend Carolyn Marshall in 1966.
He held a variety of jobs in his lifetime including giving road tests for New York State DMV. He was even an infamous NYC yellow cab driver. He relocated to Louisville KY in 1979 and worked for TARC as a bus driver. He would bring his three girls with him to Louisville in March of 1980. He retired in 2012 from the Salvation Army where he worked for 17 years in the men's shelter.
Bobby, as he was affectionately known, loved all sports, especially baseball, basketball, and hockey. In his later years his passion was Golf. He spent most of his retired time at Shawnee Golf Course.
Bobby was also an avid reader, loved Jazz Music, playing cards, a good game of chess, and like his father he loved taking pictures. We didn't have many pictures of him in them because he was always behind the camera. At all little league football games and karate Tournaments he was there with his camera taking pictures. He used vacation days because he worked on Saturdays, and he never wanted to miss a game his grandkids played.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William Howard (Billy) White; his parents, Leslie and Lauretta White; his brother-in-law, J. Michael Brown; and his wife Carolyn.
He leaves behind three daughters, Robin White-Chism (Don Michael Chism), Danielle White- Legette (Ismail Legette) and Michelle Williams; one sister, Joan E. Brown; two nephews, William H. Brown and Matthew L. Brown; seven grandsons, Michael Anthony Chism, Brandon J. Chism, Carlos L. White, Robert F. Dawson, Jordan N. Dawson, Jarrid Williams, and Jonathan Williams; one granddaughter, Ashley A. Chism; one god-daughter, Shari Lawson (Michael); 14 great-grandchildren, a host of cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
