Robert Douglas Watkins, Sr.

Robert Douglas "Bob" Watkins, Sr., 83, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, Bob began a career in Information Technology. He was a graduate of Central High School in Louisville and Fayetteville State University. Bob had several interests that included traveling in his RV, bowling, and painting. He was also a handyman and enjoyed home remodeling and working on cars. He also loved classical music.

He was born on March 10, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Benjamin and Geneva (Woods) Watkins. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his grandson, Ramik Watkins.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marie (Perry) Watkins; children, Anissia Morton, Myra Cherenfant, Robert Watkins, Jr. (LaLecha), and LaQuinta Echols; grandchildren, Cha'Veya Ross (Christian), James Watkins, Jakiyah Lee, Justin Watkins, and Nicholas Cole; great-grandchildren, Xavier Ross, King Watkins, Isaiah Watkins, and Quincy Watkins; granddaughter-in-law, Yasmin Watkins; brother, William "Rudy" Watkins (Jean); and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest privately with military honors at Kentucky Veterans Central Cemetery in Radcliff, Kentucky.
