Robert Gene "Bobby" Proffitt, 75, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. He retired from C. Lee Cook & Dover in Louisville, Kentucky, and enjoyed both gardening and collecting guns.

He was born on October 12, 1943, to the late Robert Proffitt and Martha (Messer) Thompson. Bobby was also preceded in death by his wife, Karen (Freeman) Proffitt.

Bobby is survived by his children, Ronnie Proffitt (Valarie), Suzanne Thomas (Jay), Donna Wheeler (Danny), and Jerry Proffitt (Heather); brother, Jimmy Proffitt; grandchildren, Shane, Dalton, Ethan, Brooke, Luke, Jalyn, Damieon, Dylan, Sarah, and Hollie; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 9:00 a.m. His funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.

Contributions in Bobby's memory be made to the Floyd County Animal Rescue League (215 W. Market Street, New Albany, IN 47150).
