Robert Ian Portwood

Robert Ian Portwood, 25, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023. Robert was a beloved son, brother, and husband. He was a loving father to his two children, Sage and Sophia, the lights of his life. Robert had a great sense of humor and endless talents. He was a great chef and pitmaster, and he loved developing outdoor skills, including backpacking, camping, hiking, hunting, biking, foraging, mycology, and gardening. He made the best smoked pepper powders. He also enjoyed metalworking and casting, and he valued his physical fitness. Robert was very proud of his many tattoos, some of which he even inked himself.

He was born on April 26, 1997, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Michael and Mozelle (Woods) Portwood. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Toddy and Lewis Portwood; aunt, Donna Roark; and uncle, James Williams.

Robert is survived by his wife, Destinie Portwood; son, Sage Portwood; daughter, Sophia Portwood; mother, Mozelle Portwood; father, Michael Portwood; sisters, Stacy and Sarah Portwood (Zac Muller); mother-in-law, Nicole Scalf; father-in-law, Jamie Hall; brother-in-law, Jonathan Morgan; sister-in-law, Hannah Morgan; and many other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home. Come as you are (casual attire).
