Robert "Pod" Marlin Poole of Falls of Rough Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at the age of 94.
Pod is predeceased by Rita Jean Poole, his wife of 69 years; his parents, Robert Lee, and Ida Ree Poole; his siblings William Don Poole (Ethyl) and Hugh Edward Poole (Delores); his children Russell Howard Poole and Rex Marlin Poole and his grandson Alfred John Fazio.
He is survived by his daughters Rhonda Dolle (Garry) and Renee Frye (Michael); seven grandchildren: Rusty, Melissa, Lana, Tiffany, Mac, Matthew, and Emily; and ten great-grandchildren as well as countless extended family and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly. As we grieve, we're comforted by Pod returning to his beloved Rita, whom he missed every day and was always ready with a story or treasured memory of their life together, on Valentine's Day.
Pod retired from BASF and previously worked at GE, Philip Morris, and Inmont Corp to support his family. He was a Teamster, a member of the Masonic Lodge.
But Pod would consider his family and relationships his greatest accomplishment and legacy. He loved being a brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Pod was a loyal friend to many and never met a stranger. Pod and Rita's home was a place where everyone was welcome and treated like family when they visited. Pod loved fishing, reading, and taking his daily walks. He loved sharing his hobbies with those he loved, and his children and grandchildren all have fond memories of walks in the woods, weekends at the Lake, and sitting on his lap while he read the newspaper or a book.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway.
