Robert Wayne Peters

Robert Wayne Peters, 71, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022. Bobby was a proud veteran of the United States Army, who served during the Vietnam War. He loved playing softball, horseshoes, and cornhole and loved a good game of Texas Hold'em. Bobby was a former New Albany Police Officer and retired from Colgate and Pillsbury. He was a member of Howard Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Bobby loved spending time with his friends at Danny Boy's, the American Legion, VFW, and the 40/8 and especially his family.

He was born on December 17, 1950, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late James and Pauline (Mukes) Peters. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Harris Peters; and his former wife, Barbara Ann Peters.

Bobby is survived by his son, Shawn (Tasha) Howard; daughter, Roneaka (Allen) Peters; sister, Towana Mullins; sister, Paulette Douglas; sister, Vanessa Steele; brother, Dale Peters; grandchildren, Joshcelin Howard, Alyssa Hancock, Chandler James, Audrianna Howard, Alexis Radcliffe, Cameron Mallory, Brevan Howard, Kameran Howard, Conner Mallory, and Kiara Bender; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at West Haven Cemetery in New Albany.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bobby's memory can be made to the American Legion.
