Robert "Bob" Herman, 82, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012.
Bob was born on February 25, 1930 in New Albany to the late Ervin & Elnora Salesman Herman. He was united in marriage on February 25, 1947 to the love of his life, Norma Jean Barker. Bob lived for his wife, children & grandchildren. Along with being a devoted family man, Bob was dedicated to his career as a Fireman. He worked for the New Albany Fire Department for over 20 years, rising to the rank of Fire Chief.
Bob is survived by his loving daughters, Beverly Rice (Frank), Connie Holland (Charlie), Linda Yates (her late husband, Paul); grandchildren, Holly, Tony, Michelle, Mark, Andrew, Brooke, Nikki, Christy, Chris, Scott, Tracy, Robin, Amanda, Paula; 22 great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Norma Jean (Barker) Herman; and brother, James Herman.
Visitation will be from 11 to 8 PM Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place at 1 PM Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kosair Children's Hospital Foundation (234 E. Gray Street, Suite 450, Louisville, KY 40202).
