Robert Allen "Bob" Grant, age 86 passed away peacefully at his home in Todd's Point, Kentucky on Sunday, July 1, 2018. Bob served in the Navy and began his career with the Jefferson County Police Department in 1960 where he served for over 27 years. He was appointed Jefferson County Assistant Chief-of-Police in 1972. Bob was a long-time member and deacon of Long Run Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Grant, his first wife, Mary Helen Sheridan Grant; his second wife, Shirley Goodwin Grant; and his parents, Herbert Oscar and Ida Mae Lamkin Grant; his siblings, Adele Ridenour and Ralph Grant; and great-granddaughter, Amethyst Johnson.
Bob is survived by his loving children, Ramona Darnell (Matthew), Lisa Greenlee (Kurt), Pamela Scarlott (Danny), Philip Grant (Heather Palmer), daughter-in-law, Theresa Grant; Debbie Heavrin (Kenny) and Teddy Parks (Suzie); 14 grandchildren, James McGee, Amanda McGee, Dana Jewett, April Dauscha-Upart, Ben Greenlee, Lily Darnell, Shelby Grant, Lindsay Baker, Patricia Hernandez, Thesya Johnson, Whitney Fontaine, Jessica Millward, Spencer Parks and Teddi Parks; 15 great-grandchildren, Brennan McGee, Aydon McGee, Cash McGee, Perpetua Upart, Ursula Upart, Sophia Dixon, Bart Upart, Veronika Upart, Alexis Baker, James Anthony Baker, Jewel Hernandez, Gwen Hernandez, Anna Hernandez, Zarah Johnson and Kalina Johnson; and a host of family and friends.
Bob was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. The family would like to extend a special thank you to caretakers and friends, Heather Palmer, Shelvie Morgan and Cindy Roberts, Pam Bell and Debby Burke with Hosparus, and Carol Pigott with Home Instead.
Visitation will be 2-8pm on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown. A celebration of Bob's life will be 11 am on Saturday, July 7th at the funeral home, with entombment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
