Robert Edward Franklin

Robert Edward "Eddie" Franklin, 80, of Stephensport, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021.

Eddie loved his family and friends. He loved the Lord and reading his Bible. Eddie retired from Clark Nichols Excavating, where he was a highly qualified and well respected high lift operator. He loved the country and loved feeding the birds. Eddie loved to explore the riverbank and look for artifacts. He was real lover of history, especially the World War II era.

Eddie was born on May 26, 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky to Edward and Della Franklin. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce Ann Franklin; daughter, Melisa Ann Tomes (Danny), sons, Edward James Franklin (Charlotte), Anthony Lee Franklin, daughter, Sherry Lynn Long (Kelly), sister, Betty Leonhardt; grandchildren, Sean Tomes (Christy), Christopher Tomes (Laura), Matthew Tomes, Nathan Sizemore, Emily Batts (Daniel), Tabetha Franklin, Danielle Tomes; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, Beth Gossman, Brenda Wuchterel; and nephew, Bobby Leonhardt.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Louisville, (235 Juneau Drive). His Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Kentucky.

The family requests that contributions in Eddie's memory be made to Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
