Robert L. Deckel

Robert L. Deckel, 85, of Crestwood, KY passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023 at U of L Health, Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born on October 29, 1938 in Louisville to the late Robert W. Deckel and Hallie Pearl Deckel. Robert graduated from St. Xavier in 1956 and attended Bellarmine University. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve from 1958 to 1960. Robert retired from American Synthetic Rubber Corporation, after working there for over 35 years. He also served as the President of the ASRC Federal Credit Union for a number of years.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Leslie Shaw Deckel; daughter, Nancy Deckel Buechler (Joseph); daughter, Catherine Deckel Eisenmenger (Dr. James); son, Steve Deckel (Allison); son, John Steven Deckel (Kimberly); daughter, Melissa Deckel; daughter, Adair Deckel Smith; son, Jess Deckel; grandchildren, Julia, Megan, and Paul Buechler, Sam and David Deckel, Keenan Deckel, Leann Smith, Olivia, Zavier, and Harrison Deckel.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church (1659 Mt. Olivet Road, La Grange, KY) from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A service to celebrate Robert's life will be at 1:00 pm at the church with burial to follow at Valley of Rest Cemetery in La Grange.

In lieu of flowers donations in Robert's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
