Robert Martin Chally

March 14, 1929 — October 22, 2023

Robert "Bob" Chally, 94, passed away October 22, 2023 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born March 14, 1929 in Aurora, Illinois to Martin and Bernice Chally. He was the middle child of five and is survived by his oldest sister, Jackie Draught, Polo, IL. His parents, siblings Joyce, Bill, and Ted, and wife Vivian preceded him in death.

Bob had 6 children. He is survived by a son, David (Sandie) Chally of The Villages, FL; daughters Carol (Larry) Henderson, of Newark, IL; Sandy (Mike) Tremaine, of Plymouth, IN; Lisa (Lee) Barnes of Mountain View, AR; and Pam (Chuck Stevens) Murch of Piqua, OH. His youngest daughter, Barb Erickson, of Pine City, MN preceded him in death. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael "Mikey" Tremaine, of Plymouth, IN.

He is survived by his love and partner of 25 years, Esther Karschner, of Louisville, Kentucky. He loved to fish, play cards, and spend time with family and friends. His love of playing cards prompted him to become a member of both the St. Lawrence and St. Peter the Apostle Pinochle clubs. He also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes; often forgetting punch lines which made it even funnier.

Bob worked at General Motors in Marion, IN as a tool and die maker for many years and retired from there. He owned and operated the Sports Bar in Andrews, IN in the sixties and seventies. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Naval Reserves, and attended New Salem Baptist Church in Louisville.

He picked the song "Funny How Time Slips Away" by Billy Walker for his send-off as he chose to have no service.
