Robert "Bobby" Singleton, aged 76, of Louisville, Kentucky, departed this world on Saturday, August 24, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Bobby was a devoted husband, father, pawpaw, brother, and friend. He dedicated many years of his life to his profession as a welder, retiring from FIBA in 2017. Bobby relished the simple pleasures of life, often sharing joyful breakfasts at McDonald’s with his loyal friend, Chris. His unwavering support for the University of Louisville athletic teams showcased his spirited enthusiasm, and his home was always brightened by the companionship of his beloved dogs, Rusty and Layla. A constant source of sweetness in his family, he provided cookies for his adoring grandchildren. Bobby's kindhearted nature and joyous spirit will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on November 3, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the cherished son of Robert and Margaret (Basham) Singleton. Bobby is preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert Todd Singleton, along with his sisters Brenda, Dorothy, Phyllis, and Linda, who welcomed him with open arms.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Gail Singleton; his daughter, Erica (Brad) Overstreet; his son, Steven (Shawna) Singleton; and his siblings, Danny, George, Jerry, and Darrell, as well as his sister, Gloria. He leaves behind a vibrant legacy through his grandchildren—Amanda, Jordan, Courtney, and Abby—and great-grandchildren—Channler, Konner, Steven Jr., Korbyn, Zaylee, Remi, Raina, and Maemae. Additionally, he will be remembered fondly by his best friend, Teresa Marcum.
Visitation for Bobby will be held from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions Southwest Louisville Chapel, followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions in Bobby's memory be made to Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
