Robert "Bob" Edward Jessop

July 21, 1936 — August 26, 2024

Louisville, Kentucky

Robert "Bob" Edward Jessop, Sr., born on July 21, 1936, in Detroit Michigan to Charles & Ruth (Greenshields) Jessop, passed away on August 26, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. Bob was a man who took great pride in his work and family.  A graduate of Wilbur Wright High School, he found joy in working on cars, a passion that would remain with him throughout his life.

In 1954, Bob married Barbara Bowersox, and together they raised a family of five children amidst a loving home filled with both human and furry companions in Michigan. In June 1970, seeking new opportunities, Bob relocated his family to Louisville, Kentucky. There, he began a long and fulfilling career selling and servicing golf carts, ultimately taking the brave step to establish his own company, Jessop Golf Cars. This entrepreneurial spirit defined much of his working life.

Bob's personal life saw changes when he and Barbara divorced. He later met and married Adeline Kimmel, with whom he shared many joyful years filled with travel, cruising, and dance until her passing in January 2012. Bob's dedication to his family remained a constant throughout his life, as he relished every moment spent with his loved ones.

In addition to his roles as a father and entrepreneur, Bob proudly served in the National Guard  for many years, embodying a sense of duty and commitment that he carried into every aspect of his life. He was a proud member of the Kentucky Colonels. His interests extended beyond his career; he had a profound love for fishing, particularly in the Florida Keys, and was known for his engaging storytelling, laughter, and warm conversations with family and friends.

Bob is survived by his children, Liz (Randy) Gumm, Becky Fish, Chris Jessop, and John Jessop. He will also be missed by his 11 grandchildren, Bo, Andrew, Clarissa, Lindsey, Stephanie, Barrett, Katie, Josh, Lauren, Emily, and Roni, as well as 21 great-grandchildren who were the light of his life.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Jessop; mother, Ruth Eastman; son, Robert "Bob" Jessop, Jr.; and brother, Chuck Jessop. Bob's legacy of love, hard work, and joyful spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

At Bob's requests, private services will take place at a later date.
