Robert Delano Battles

Robert Battles died at his home in Floyds Knobs on Friday, August 12, 2022 at age 88. He was preceded in death by his first wife Jean Battles; and grandson, Andy Fischer. He is survived by his wife, Linda; and children Diane (Jim) Schroeder, Cindy (Sam Pellman) Fischer, and Jim Battles; grandchildren, Jennifer Schroeder, Kelly (Scott) Reed, Corey (Bridget Filburn) Schroeder, Lauren and Bryan Battles, and Rob and Carrie Fischer; and eight great-grandchildren.

Bob was a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where he was a former vestry member and sang in the choir. He founded the Floyds Knobs Community Club Players theatre group, where he directed a long list of plays. He had many hobbies, including glassblowing, woodworking, stained glass, ceramics, and bird watching. He was a handyman and could fix just about anything.

He will be missed by all. Cremation was chosen with Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) being entrusted with his arrangements. A memorial service and internment of ashes will be held at a later date.
