Robert L Bartsch "Electric Bob"

Robert L. Bartsch, affectionately known as "Electric Bob," passed away on January 13, 2025, in Louisville, KY, with his devoted wife by his side. He was born on March 22, 1956, in Louisville, where he would later establish a fulfilling career as an electrician, earning the endearment from friends and colleagues that reflected his expertise and dedication.

A proud graduate of Manuel High School and Ahrens Vocational School, Robert was known for his diligence, humor, and kindness throughout both his personal and professional life. His charisma and commitment to his craft earned him respect in the community, and he enjoyed being an active member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 369.

Robert was a loyal husband, devoted father, loving grandfather, and compassionate brother. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie Helmbrecht Bassett-Bartsch; sons Kevin L. (Jennifer) Bassett, Robert J. (Veronica) Bartsch, Arnold F. Coates, Michael L. (Linda) Coates, Charles "Chuck" E. Coates, and Robert L. (Marina) Coates; brother Paul W. Bartsch; sisters Denise A. (Joe) Decker, Karen L. (Kenny) Preston, Laura L. (Ernie) Garvin, and Carla J. (Jack) Ramsier; brother Lawrence E. (Cindy) Bartsch; god-child Morgan M. Simpson; as well as many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robert took great pride in watching his family grow and was known for hosting holiday events and creating cherished memories. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and spending quality time with family and friends at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Derby City 2173, where he served as president and KY state past president. 

He was preceded in death by his father Leonard Bartsch and mother Norma Bartsch, who are remembered for the foundational values they instilled in him.

Family and friends are invited to honor Robert's life on January 23, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 PM, concluding with a special gathering at 7:00 PM.

Robert L. Bartsch will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support for his family will continue to inspire all who were touched by his presence.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the American Heart Association to be made in his honor.
