Robbin Pearson

February 1, 1951 — November 6, 2023

Robbin T. Pearson, 72, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in her home on November 6, 2023, after spending a week surrounded by many of her loved ones - both family and friends. She will be truly and deeply missed in so many ways. Yet, we are grateful for the time we had to spend with her and look forward to the day we will hear her voice and feel her hugs again. She is irreplaceable.

Treasured baby girl.
Robbin "Rob" spent many summers with her grandparents - whom she affectionately called Grammy Ella and Daddy Boo. She was adored and treasured. Their home was a place she was given the gift of unconditional love…a love she would passionately give to her children and those that had the privilege of encountering her wisdom and lingering hugs. She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Travers; her mother, Margaret Shackelford; her first husband, Walter Bordus and her baby boy Marcellus.

Sisterly Love
It is said that eyes are the window to the soul. Robbin was a stunning beauty with hazel eyes. Her eyes drew others in but more importantly her eyes could see the magnitude of excellence in others - including her brothers whom she loved. She often described them as her heart saw them…Henry "Sage"- master storyteller and extravagant provider; Denley - Structured, disciplined and a man of honor; Corey - Integral, dedicated and graced with a father's heart; Jay - smooth, successful, strong and savvy. As the only sister of the bunch - she enjoyed sharing stories of each of her brothers. Some brought her to tears, but most stories gave her much joy and laughter.

Advocate for the people.
In her early twenties and thirties, Robbin also known as Assata or Sata, spent time in Milwaukee, Wisconsin fighting for equality, justice and resources for the underserved and often overlooked. She was a social worker and social change agent - using her God given roar - powerful voice - to create movements that would educate and advance those she fought for and beside. She was a force, determined to see ALL receive the favor given to only a few. Also, during this time of life, she encountered and built a tight knit family with her partner Dia Damani. They shared an unorthodox love and though they later separated - they remained lifelong friends and family.

Mother raising greatness.
"Momma" was endlessly proud of her children Shanette, Xavier (Vickie) and Ayisha (Kevin), always supporting them as they developed into the uniquely designed individuals God created them to be. Cheering loudly, listening intently and praying always - she raised her children to love unconditionally, choose forgiveness, stand tall, have faith, get back up again, give generously and love the Lord their God with EVERYTHING they are. Her children referred to her as their safe place, fiercely protective, encouraging, wise, prayerful, loving, a pillar and someone they could always count on to stand beside them. Her love was unconditional, and her hugs could cure all. She taught them to never give up and loved them vastly beyond understanding. Her bonus boys - whom she fondly called Bu, Addi and Shim - thank you for loving her well and being a part of a lifetime of memories. She enjoyed every moment she spent with you.

Bridge Builder for the Kingdom of God.
Ms. Robbin had a gift for making others feel welcomed, seen and loved. She was a worshipper at her core. She made a point to always encourage others, speak life and pray fervently for those she encountered and loved. As the first black family at New Life Church - she aligned with the leaderships' vision of a culturally diverse church. The day before she went to be with Jesus, she was able to see that vision come fully alive in a joint service with multiple nationalities! She was heard worshipping loudly and giddy with gratitude for the gift of seeing this day come to pass.

Faithful friend.
Robbin's friends describe her as "fearless, faith filled, powerful, influential, courageous, strong, determined and mature in the faith. Many of her friends gleaned from and grew from her wealth of wisdom and her appetite for the word of God. She shared often whatever she learned and believed that all she could give was more than enough because God would multiple it in the hearts of others. Her friends coveted her banana pudding and her prayers. They knew she would hold their requests in complete confidence while petitioning on their behalf.

Grandmother with Legacy
"MIMI" was committed, joyful and always available to giggle, cheer on, fight for, love on and brag about her grandchildren. She was proud of every new tooth, first word, Lego build, school grade, athletic award, composed song, art project, funny story and her expectation of what was to come. She sowed richly into her grandchildren by praying and interceding for them day and night. Ayinde (Kayden), Brianna, Khalil, Kemari, Kamiya, Jamison, Kylin, Kycian, Kenley, Kamden and Kallie - will each benefit greatly from her prayers for God's protection, salvation and provision for a lifetime. Their children and their children's children will benefit as well.

Jewels & Crowns
This fearfully and wonderfully made "daughter of the King" will spend eternity in heaven - worshipping, laughing, hugging, loving and dancing with fullness of joy. She placed many crowns at Jesus feet on November 6th. She was in love with the King of Kings and was beyond excited to join the heavenly choir and sing a new song of praise. As a child she wanted to be a songwriter. We are confident she is currently composing some of the greatest worship songs ever written and singing them with all that is within her.

Until we meet again…You are truly BLESSED and HIGHLY FAVORED
