Rita Riley

Rita W. Riley, 75, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024. Rita was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandma. She was the bravest and most special woman that her husband of 60 years had ever met. Rita loved spending time with her family and making memories with her grandchildren. She had a deep faith and was a devout Catholic. Rita will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She was born on July 30, 1948 in Darmstadt, Germany to Christian and Hedwig (Schmidt) Barth. She is preceded in death by her father, Christian Barth; mother, Hedwig Frida Barth; sister, Ellen Guess; and brother, Christian Barth.

Rita is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, William "Bill" Riley; son, Rick Riley; daughter, Jamie (Scott) Augenstein; son, Jason (Mindy) Riley; granddaughters, Jessica (Chris Palmer) Riley, Jaylen Augenstein, Kaylee Augenstein, Kensi Augenstein, Emma Riley; 2 great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Presley; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (Central) in Radcliff, Kentucky.
