Rickey Lester Sims, 63, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023.
Rickey was full of life and joy, from the earliest age his love and compassion showed by caring for his younger siblings. He enjoyed caring for his loved ones and friends throughout life. He was the bright light that lit up any room he entered. He will live on forever through the many memories of good times and laughter. Rickey excelled in his career at The Power Agency as the studio production manager and was proud to serve the City of Wellington, the community where he lived and loved, as Mayor for 12 years. Rickey loved the finer things in life but, the simple things are what mattered the most to him.
He was born on April 15, 1960 in Somerset, Kentucky to Lindell Sims and Linda Sue Embry. He is preceded in death by his father, Lindell Lester Sims, and his beloved dogs, Snowball, and Angel.
Rickey is survived by his loving mother, Linda Sue Embry, siblings, Deborah (Paul) Fries, John Sims, David (Dana) Sims, Jeffrey Sims, nieces and nephews, Ashley (Marcus), Victoria, Zachary (Kayla), Mackenzie, great-nephews and great-niece, Caden, Hudson, Amelia, his beloved dogs, Tedi, and Izzy, and his life long friend Mike Priano. He is also survived by a host of loving family and friends.
Cremation was chosen and a celebration of Rickey's life will be held at a later date.
