Richard A. Winn born on December 26, 1957, in Houston, Texas, passed away on April 7, 2025, in New Albany, Indiana. He lived a life rich with passion, devotion, and service, leaving behind cherished memories for his family, friends, and the community he served.
Richard graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1976. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Navy on June 23, 1976. His time in the Navy was marked by pride and adventure as he traveled the world, serving honorably until his discharge on May 18, 1979. This period instilled in him a love for exploring different cultures and experiences, which would become a defining aspect of his character.
Upon returning to civilian life, Richard contributed significantly to his family's legacy through their restaurant, Chili Time, located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. His dedication to the family business not only served the community but also brought countless joy to those who experienced his culinary talents.
In addition to his professional life, Richard had numerous interests that painted a picture of a well-rounded individual. He enjoyed traveling whenever possible, reveling in new experiences and adventures. He was passionate about woodworking. Cooking was another of his beloved hobbies, where he shared his love for food with family and friends, creating lasting memories around the dining table. He had a particular fondness for small dogs, often finding companionship and joy in their presence.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Sandra "Sandy" Winn, who stood by him through thick and thin; his brother Bob Winn; his sister Kay Winn; and cherished nieces and nephews including Amanda (Lupe) Balderas, Tyler (Tyffanie) Winn, and Chris Winn. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Herb (Tina) Jenkins, and three great nieces and two great nephews, who all remember him with love and admiration.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe and Marilyn Winn, and his brother, Randy (Alice) Winn. Their absence is felt deeply by those who knew Richard, as family bonds were immensely important to him.
In honoring Richard's life, family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This gathering will provide an opportunity to share stories, memories, and celebrate a life well-lived.
Richard A. Winn will be remembered not only for his contributions to his family and community but also for his warm spirit, generosity, and the impact he made on the lives of those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of the countless individuals he touched throughout his journey.
