Richard Lee Miller

April 13, 1931 — June 30, 2022

Richard Lee "Dick" Miller, Sr., 91, of Palmyra, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022. All he talked about was how much he loved his five kids. He often called them by each other's names, including calling them Ambush, his dog at the time. To remedy this, Richard numbered them by their birth order—#1 (Sherri), #2 (Roxann), #3 (Rick), #4 (Jay), and #5 (Tiana)—and would call them by their number. Richard loved his dog, Bear. He enjoyed model ship building and putting puzzles together. Dick was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, where he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and was awarded the Bronze Star. During his time in the service, he met his wife, Donna, while roller skating. Together, they enjoyed going dancing throughout their 57 years of marriage.

He was born on April 13, 1931, in New Albany, Indiana, to Warren and Jeweletta (Weigleb) Miller. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Donna (Nordgren) Miller.

Richard is survived by his children, Sherri (Joe) Naville, Roxann (Eddy) Weigleb, Tiana Miller, Richard Miller, Jr., and Jay (Michelle) Miller; grandchildren, Jordan (Rachel) Miller, Noah (Hannah) Miller, Rachel (JT) Miller, Jesse Miller, Sarah Miller, Brad (Ryan) Sea, Lakin (Scott) Wooldridge, Hollie (Kyle Welch) Naville, Darsey Naville, and Richard L. (Shannon) Miller III; and great-grandchildren, Lauren Naville, Rorie Jo Sea, Beckham Joseph Sea, Evangeline Miller, Joy Miller, and Meredith Miller.

Cremation was chosen by the family in honor of Richard's wishes, and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions-New Albany was entrusted with his care.

Contributions in Richard's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (6100 Dutchmans Lane, Ste. 401, Louisville, KY 40205) or the Disabled Veterans Association (dav.org/Donate).
