Richard Metcalf

Richard P. Metcalf, 67, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011. Rick was a truck Driver for Knight Transportation in Louisville. He retired after 22 years in the U.S. Army and was a decorated Purple Heart recipient from the Vietnam War with three tours of duty.

Rick was born on October 26, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Joseph and Virginia (Reeder) Metcalf. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Satterfield, and brother, Glenn Metcalf.

He is survived by his wife, Eleene K. (Voyles) Metcalf; brother, Michael A. Metcalf of Georgetown, Indiana; and five nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). His Funeral Service will be at 11 AM on Wednesday followed by burial at the Indiana Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. Full military honors will be conducted by the Fort Knox Ceremonial Unit and Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion.
