Richard Jude "Dick" McDowell, 89, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022. He retired from Johnson & Johnson after 32 years of employment and had served as an active volunteer for the Community Kitchen in Jeffersonville. Dick enjoyed playing Euchre and was an avid golfer.
He was born on November 3, 1932, to Walter and Elenor (Nielsen) McDowell. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine "Bernie" McDowell; and sister, Helene Steinbrick.
Dick is survived by his wife, Darlene (Brewer) Nierengarten McDowell; children, Lesa Jacobs (Steve), Rich McDowell (Janet), Karen Sullivan (Jeff), Michael McDowell, Catherine Jackson (Michael), and Brenda De Chari (Jamel); brother, Robert McDowell; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dick's wish was to be cremated, and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with his care. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
