Richard L. "Christy" Atkins, 84, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from Sonoco in New Albany. Christy was a member of VFW Post 1693 Hobart Beach and Floyds Knobs Christian Church.
He was born on April 28, 1929 in Floyd County, Indiana to the late Christy and Flora (Sarles) Atkins. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Delores Atkins. Christy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty R. (Sperzel) Atkins, and daughter, Michelle Atkins.
Visitation will be from 9 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his Funeral Service taking place at 1 PM in the chapel at the funeral home with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
The family requests that contributions in Christy's memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association (6100 Dutchmans Ln, Louisville, KY 40205).
