Richard Marc Harris

Richard "Marc" Harris, 61, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021. He retired from General Electric in Louisville and was a member of the IUE-CWA Local 83761. Marc expressed his strong faith at an early age and was a member of Newburg Apostolic Church.

Marc had many interests that included fish, music, technology, and the Kentucky Derby. He was an avid fan of the Indiana Hoosiers, Minnesota Vikings, and the late, great, Mohammad Ali. Marc was an incredibly generous man that enjoyed teaching others. He had a sense of humor that was always on display when cutting up with his boys, and you could always count on Marc to plan a great vacation.

Of Marc's many interests, the most important thing to him was family. He especially loved his grandchildren and was fond of his four-legged companion, Shadow.

He was born on March 12, 1959, in New Albany, Indiana, to Garnetta (Russell) Harris and the late Raymond Harris. In addition to his mother, Marc is survived by his son, Richard "Scott" Harris and loving family, Lynn Allen; sister, Crystal January (Eric); cousin, Renee Yates (Lamont); grandchildren, Alaycia Harris, Brielle Harris, Kaynan Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, Jaden Kirk, Jocelyn Kirk, and Bella Kirk; former wife, Anita Offutt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family understands anyone who might not feel comfortable attending services at this time due to the pandemic. Masks will be required to attend, and conversations with the family will be limited. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Newburg Apostolic Church (4817 E. Indian Trail, Louisville, KY 40218). Marc's funeral service will be held privately, and he will be laid to rest at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
