Richard D. Vester, Sr., 78, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he played the bugle and melllophone for the Army. Richard grew up attending the Tulip Street Methodist Church in Nashville, Tennessee and had retired from Specialty Advertising in Louisville. He enjoyed playing golf and listening to classical music.
Richard was born on September 2, 1934 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Millard F., Jr. and Daisy M. (Parsons) Vester.
He is survived by his children, Richard, Jr. (Katherine) and Russell E. Vester (Rhonda), Randi Vester, and Chuck Zielke (Stacy); long-time companion and good friend, Brenda Zielke; brother, James Vester; and grandchildren, Liam, Lauren, Alexander, Ethan, and Ezra Vester and Austin and Ashley Zielke.
His visitation will be 3 to 8 PM Thursday, March 21 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with entombment and military honors to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
