Richard Lee Burgess

Richard Lee "Rick" Burgess, 77, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Rick was a kind and dependable father and husband who worked hard to provide for his family. Rick graduated from Aaron's trade school in 1965. He then began his career as a skilled draftsman in the 70's and continued in that field for 20+ years. In his spare time Rick loved learning about history, and watching western films; John Wayne and Clint Eastwood were among his favorites. For years he enjoyed framing as a passion and hobby. Other hobbies he had and shared with his son were golfing, bowling, and riding bikes. He always had a great sense of humor and a wonderful smile. He will be dearly missed

He was born on March 18, 1945 in Louisville, Kentucky to Carl and Dorothy (Martin) Burgess. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Burgess; and father, Carl Burgess.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Gayle Burgess; son, Robby Lee Burgess; sisters, Sandra (John) Diblasi, and Pat Embry; sister-in-law, Sue (Bob) Karnes; nieces, Lorie Karnes, Christy (Chuck) Bruner, Angie Diblasi; nephews, Brian Embry, Shawn Embry, Eric Embry; great-niece, Karleigh Bruner; great-nephews, Kyle Bruner, Ethan Rose; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Mt. Washington, Kentucky .
