Rhonda Gayle (Boman) Hopkins, 70, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. She retired from Floyd County Superior Court No. 2. Rhonda recently celebrated 33 years of sobriety and has helped countless individuals battle addiction through counseling and AA.
She was an avid ghost hunter, with Halloween being her favorite holiday. Rhonda loved her family deeply, along with the sun and the sand. She also enjoyed redecorating her home, going shopping, listening to music, going on long car rides, and "bossing" her husband around.
She was born on February 7, 1953, in New Albany, Indiana, to Lee and Wilma (Jones) Boman. In addition to her parents, Rhonda was preceded in death by her brother, Leland "Kent" Boman.
Rhonda is survived by her husband, John "Mark" Hopkins; children, Melanie Donahue and Chad Donahue; stepdaughter, Jamie Coultas (Nathan); siblings, Darrell Boman, Charlene Hocker (L.B.), Pam Lofton, and Twyla Foster (Dave); grandchildren, Wyatt Donahue, and Bethany, Christopher, and Easton Coultas; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 10:00 a.m. Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with private burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
