Rhonda James Bishop

Rhonda James Bishop, 69, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Rhonda was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She loved to play BINGO, cooking, and spend time with her family. Rhonda will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She was born on May 30, 1954 in Louisville, Kentucky to William and Clara (Thompson) James. She is preceded in death by her mother, Clara Johnson; father, William James; husband, Gerald Ray Bishop, Sr.; son, Kendrick James, Sr.; sisters, Bridget Gainey, Yvonne Hayes; and brother, Leivelle James.

Rhonda is survived by her loving family, daughter, Tara Bishop; sons, Gerald (Marisha Tinker) Bishop, Jr.; Nique (Nicole) Thompson, Henry (Kay) Gainey; nephews, LaRon (Brittany) Hayes, LaMonne Hayes, LaDale Hayes; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; special friend, Linda Bryant; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Stephen Baptist Church, 1018 South 15th Street. A celebration of her life will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, at St. Stephen Baptist Church with burial to follow at Green Meadows Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.

The family requests that contributions in Rhonda's memory be made to the American Cancer Society.
