Rev. Mckinley Daniel, Sr.

Rev. Wendell M. Daniel, Sr., 73, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2022. Wendell was survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Deborah (Campbell) Daniel.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Wendy Prater (Tim), Shannon Waters (Matt), Kirk Madison, Robyn Burke (Chris), Lundi Vincent (Andy), Wendell M. Daniel, Jr. (Amanda), Sarah Jo Daniel, Rebecca Daniel, and Hannah Daniel; grandchildren, Makenzie, Megan, Ariel, Jude, Eden, Shiloh, Chad, Christopher, Jr., Lauren, Benjamin, Genevieve, Josie, Sadie, Elijah, Silas, Naomi, McKinley, Belle, and Rylann; and great-grandchildren, Bentlee, Ian, and Sawyer. His memory will also be cherished by a multitude of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Willie Lee Daniel, Jr.; his mother, Geneva (Mason) Daniel; brother, Keith Daniel; and a host of loved ones.

Wendell was a faithful soldier and minister for the Lord, serving as pastor of Gateway Missionary Baptist Church. He also received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam, earning several medals and commendations. He retired from Metalsa in 2013 after 17 dedicated years.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) on February 24, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Gateway Missionary Baptist Church (430 Hale Road, Clarksville, IN 47129) on February 25, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wendell will be laid to rest at Ivy Hill Cemetery.
