Rev. Dwight Lyons

The Rev. Dwight K. Lyons, passed away September 11, 2011. He was born January 11, 1933 to Golda Grindstaff Lyons and James Roy Lyons in Elizabethton, TN, members of pioneer East Tennessee families. He graduated from Elizabethton High School and received his bachelor of science degree from East Tennessee State University. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Psi Omega fraternities and served as editor of the campus newspaper. He completed studies for two additional degrees from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY. Additional studies were at Princeton Theological Seminary and Oxford University. He served many years in campus ministry positions at Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Louisville. He was along time member of the Kiwanis Club of Louisville, the Executive Club, the English-Speaking Union, the Arts Club, the United Nations Association, former member of the Downtown Neighborhood Association, a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and Highland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors; Mr. Daniel W. Ellis of Louisville, a Special Friend and Caregiver and many friends.

There will be no visitation or memorial. Entombment was held at the Monte Vista Burial Park in Johnson City, TN.
