Rayburn Louis Douglas, 73 of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, while resting at home. He was born in Adairville, Kentucky, on May 24, 1949, to the late Fredrick and Luna (Taylor) Douglas. Along with his parents, Rayburn was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Douglas; and sisters, Irene (Douglas) Smith and Cyrila Douglas.
Rayburn accepted Christ at an early age and attended Second Baptist Church, where the Douglas family were members. He was a graduate of New Albany High School and retired from Louisville Gas & Electric Company (LG&E) after 27 years of service as a Fire Systems Equipment Technician. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. Rayburn was also a member of the Thomas English Elks Lodge.
His most cherished love was his family. Rayburn was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Janice Florine (Lindsey) Douglas for 49 years. Because of his wisdom and loving spirit, his family often looked to him for support and guidance.
Left to cherish his memory, Rayburn is survived by his wife, Janice Florine (Lindsey) Douglas; brothers, Isreal Douglas (Dillie), Claybon Douglas (Juanita), and James (JB) Douglas (Carol); sisters-in-law, Kay Lindsey, Maria Lindsey, and Martha Douglas; brothers-in-law, Kevin Lindsey (Patty) and Greg Lindsey (Leslie); a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Robert Southers (Gail) and Milton Brown (Betty).
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
