Our beloved Randy L. Jungkurth, age 71, of New Albany, Indiana, died on December 7, 2024. 

Randy had a deep and unconditional love for his wife of 49 years, Terri (Teresa) Jungkurth; his daughter, Mindy (Melinda) Gutwein; son-in-law, Jon Gutwein; and grandchildren, Charli Gutwein, Abe Gutwein, Cora Gutwein, and Cal Gutwein. He also cherished his siblings; brother, Vic Jungkurth Jr. (Traci); sister, Beckie Andrews (David); brother, Jeff Jungkurth (Laura); sister-in-law, Tina Mike (David); and sister-in-law, Traci Barnett (Kevin). 

Randy adored his many nephews and nieces: Joy Rasmussen (Bill), Jonny Pike (Eva), David Andrews Jr. (Amanda), Tori Jungkurth, Kade Jungkurth, Blaine Mike (Nicole), Tommy Joe Mike (Gabby), Blake Barnett (Destiny), Derek Barnett (Kaylan), and Jonathan Mike. 

He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Lindsy Jungkurth; parents, Zella and Vic Jungkurth Sr.; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Massengill; sister, Kathy Carty; and brother, Doyle Jungkurth.

Randy was a man of unwavering faith, immense love, and deep compassion. He served God as a pastor in the Indiana United Methodist Church for 30 years. Randy lived his life as a dedicated husband, father, family member, pastor, and friend. 

As a youth, he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, football, track and field, delivering newspapers, and being a golf caddy. In high school, Randy was president of his school’s chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He earned a track and field scholarship to Eastern Kentucky University, where he met his wife, Terri. He then pursued seminary studies, earning a pastoral degree and ultimately a doctorate in Psychotherapy and Pastoral Counseling from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. 

Terri and Mindy wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to the family members, friends, Hosparus Health care workers, and compassionate doctors and staff who cared for Randy during his illness. 

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150. A second visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 From 11:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2796 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150. A private burial will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Monticello, Indiana. 

The family invites you to make a memorial gift to the children’s ministry of Monticello United Methodist Church. Checks can be made payable to Monticello United Methodist Church with “Randy Jungkurth Memorial” in the memo section.
