Louisville

Raleigh Lee Sanderson, age 79, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

Born on September 23, 1945, in Miami, Florida, he was the cherished son of the late Clarence Sanderson and Reba (Costa) Wright. Raleigh is now reunited in eternal rest with his beloved daughter, Amy Sanderson, and his brother, Preston Sanderson.

Raleigh leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love through his devoted wife of 61 years, Gail Sanderson. He also leaves three sons who adored him: Adam, Robert, and Randy Sanderson, as well as his grandson, Travis Scott Michael Sanderson, who brought him immense joy. He is further survived by his sister, Gail (Robert) Poston, along with many family members and friends who will hold his memory close to their hearts.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Raleigh served with honor during the Vietnam War. His unwavering dedication to family made him a great provider, mentor, and confidant to those he loved. Professionally, he was a talented diesel mechanic, with a passion for working on all types of machinery.

Beyond his work, Raleigh brought laughter and joy to everyone around him with his wonderful sense of humor. He had a deep affection for animals and delighted in spending time at the casino, cheering for his favorite sports teams—NASCAR, football, basketball, and UFC. He cherished every moment spent on weekend getaways with loved ones, especially enjoying the "Hatfield & McCoy" show in Gatlinburg.
