Rae (Chambers) Wetherington
Rae (Chambers) Wetherington, 73, of New Albany, Indiana, formerly of Washington, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2011 at Lincoln Hills Nursing Home. Rae was a member of Faith Freewell Baptist Church in Washington, North Carolina. She enjoyed artwork, spending time with her family, and was especially close to her grandchildren.
Rae was born on November 7, 1937 in Pinetown, North Carolina to the late Claude Ray and Effie (Waters) Chambers. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Joel C. Wetherington; son, Eric G. Wetherington; and brother, John Chambers.
She is survived by her son, Joel Wetherington and his wife, Carol of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters, Alva Lilley of Plymouth, North Carolina, LouJean Long and her husband, George of Columbia, South Carolina, and Bettyjo Stanfield of Raleigh, North Carolina; brothers, Travis Chambers and his wife, Brenda of Delaware and James Chambers and his wife, Lena of Kinston, North Carolina; grandchildren, Adam H. and Sarah P. Wetherington of Louisville, Kentucky; and sister-in-law, Diane Chambers of Wilson, North Carolina.
Services and burial will take place in North Carolina (Paul Funeral Home, 900 John Small Avenue, Washington, NC 27889 {800-936-7285}). Newcomer Funeral Home – New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) is in charge of the local arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
