Phyllis Maxine Pope, 69, of Louisville died after a prolonged illness. She was born in Bloomfield, Kentucky, and graduated from Nelson County High School.
She retired from the J. Graham Brown Cancer Center in Louisville after spending much of her life working in health care. Phyllis loved to bake, crochet, sew, and make jewelry. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy and college basketball, and she loved to solve crossword puzzles. She had a quick wit and she loved to have the last word. She never met a person who couldn't benefit from her advice and wouldn't hesitate to give you her opinion on everything.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Arthur Pope, and a sister Patricia Pope.
She is survived by a daughter Danielle Horton (Daren), and a son Devin Horton (Kelly), three grandchildren; Katelyn Horton and Anabella and Mason Doogarsingh, all of Louisville. She is also survived by sisters, Vivian Harrison, and Karen Douglas of Bardstown, Stephanie Williams of Radcliff and Erica Pope Jones (Thomas) of Harrodsburg, and one brother Gary Pope (Lorie) of Bardstown.
