Phyllis Elaine Houser age 79 formerly of Danville, Indiana passed this earth on Friday April 4th. Days before she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grand children and dear friends.
She was born on October 16th 1945 in New Castle Indiana to the late William Howard Rogers (1950) and Nettie Elizabeth (Crouch) Rogers Mayer(2006).
As a child Phyllis attended Four Square Church in New Castle and attended Camp in Waupaca Wisconsin where she shared that she had a very specific encounter with Jesus and decided to place her trust in God. She would collect bottles to support her affinity for Dairy Queen Ice Cream just a block from her home and spend endless hours at the community pool.
Phyllis's life included many things.
Phyllis's Primary Devotion to her faith and trust in Jesus was evident for decades as a member of the First Baptist Church of Danville. Serving in the Nursery, Leading in Vacation Bible school including sewing and wearing a clown outfit to relate to the children in attendance, Sunday School Teacher who put herself in to investing in kids' lives, building relationships through outings.
Her life was committed to being an extraordinaire Homemaker and Mother to her 2 sons and daughter, making many personal sacrifices along the way to do so. She was never too busy for her family and faith.
She was invested in and active in many community activities through Park Softball, Bowling League (with a high score), Welcome Wagon, Home Makers Club, Volunteer at Hendricks County Hospital, Fall Charity Event held at South Elementary School, a "suspicious" group of ladies from Church who called themselves the Zorette's, worked at Danville Chrysler in the business office, and a supporter of the Baptist Children's Home in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Phyllis was competent in Great Listening Skills, advanced Math, Cooking, Organization, Cleaning, Sewing, Hosting, Gifting her family with AMAZING Easters, Thanksgivings and Christmas's. She could be counted on for putting even the dumbest boxed shelving together meticulously and not leaving parts out!
If you ever shared a personal situation with her, you could count on the fact that it was never going to be shared. You could absolutely trust her.
She is survived by her sons Chip (wife-Jane), Jeff (wife-Dana) and daughter Tamie, as well as her sister Yvonne Larkin and Brother Tom (wife-Juanita) Rogers, 9 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and 2 more on the way.
