Philip C. Chance, age 61, on October 9, 2010, Phil joined his parents, Herb and Hazel Chance, and sister, Dianne Chance Thomas, in God's eternal presence. He leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Cathy (Chisholm), and son, Christopher. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Frances Chisholm. He will be missed by his extended family in Kentucky and across the U.S.
Phil graduated from Seneca High School and then received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Louisville, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. His career included service in the Air Force JAG corps, work at Mapother and Mapother Attorneys, and ultimately, a position as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Louisville office. He was an active member of Lakewood Baptist Church, enjoying such responsibilities as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member, and Upward soccer referee. He has also been a participant in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for 20 years.
The celebration of Phil's life will be held at Lakewood Baptist Church, 13803 Shelbyville Rd. at 2 pm on Saturday, October 23. Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm on Friday, October 22 at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the building program of Lakewood Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
