Peter Dakin, age 89 of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was originally from Blackpool, England. After serving as 2nd Lieutenant in the British Army, stationed in Hong Kong, Peter went on to apply his talents in a variety of fields. He worked in retail at Marks & Spencer, which brought him to Middlesbrough where he met his wife of 63 years, Norma Jean Borrow. He then worked for Granada Television before immigrating to the United States in 1967, to join the recreational vehicle industry of Elkhart, Indiana. The family lived in five different states in all, but it was Louisville they came to call home. Peter had a passion for travel and made international sales the cornerstone of his career. As a sales representative for prefabricated housing, medical equipment and chemical peptides, he traveled throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Peter is preceded in death by his wife Norma, parents Frank and Jessie Dakin, a sister Shirley, and brothers-in-law James and Robin.
A lifelong car enthusiast, Peter was one of the founding members of the British Sports Car Club of Louisville. But more than just the cars, Peter loved the opportunities they brought to meet and visit with people.
Peter is survived by his two sons, Andrew (Sarah) and Stephen (Heather), a sister, Carolyn, a brother, Michael (Diana), and four grandchildren, Benjamin, Maxwell, Audrey, and Malcolm.
