Peggy Jane (McClary) Moyers, 84, of New Albany, Indiana, arrived at her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Her life was one marked by faith, family, and community service. Peggy dedicated her time and efforts to nurturing her spiritual home and supporting her family's business.
Peggy was devoted to her husband Smitty for over 66 years. They shared a remarkable and loving bond. Their marriage was a blessing from Christ. Her daughters Kathy, Laura, and Sherri received an abundance of endless love, talent, and blessings from a mother that had the ability to give, give, and give some more.
As an energetic Granny to Chelsea and Patrick, she received so much joy, laughter, and pride from watching them grow. Their names brought a smile to her face. Her great-granddaughter, Hazel is her answered prayer and has become her precious delight. Known as aunt Peg; aunt PegPeg; aunt Peggy by her loving nieces and nephews, all of whom held a loving place in her heart, Donna, Mary, Kristie, David, Jennifer, Marcie, Anne, Sarah, Amy, Jule, Molly, Declan, Zachary, Sydney, Michelle, John, Mike, Joe, Taylor, Michael, Emma, and Gavin.
Born on April 24, 1940, in New Albany to James and Luella (Martin) McClary, Peggy grew up surrounded by love and encouragement. Along with her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Gary and Carolyn McClary.
Time spent with family was her choice, whether at the lake, on the slopes, in the pool, at the euchre table, traveling, or making a family meal, she gave boundless love in everything she did.
Her faith in Christ was unwavering and strengthened by constant prayer for all of her family and church community. She served the Lord with her love for babies in the church nursery, the high school youth group, and widows of her church.
Peggy’s legacy continues through her beloved husband, H.S. "Smitty" Moyers, with whom she celebrated over 65 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with joy, raising three daughters-Kathy Fairbanks, Laura Abplanalp (Garry), and Sherri Perkins (Daniel)-each of whom carry forward her values and spirit.
