Paul Stanley Ritchie, born September 26, 1956, LaGrange, Kentucky, departed this world on September 6, 2022, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was 65 years old.
During his formative years in LaGrange, Kentucky, he was always called by his full name (Paul Ritchie), to distinguish him from all other Paul in the neighborhood, who happened to live next door. Many of his family members called him 'Turk', but in later life he proudly referred to himself as simply 'P.S.R.'!
Paul was an avid sports fan, daily monitoring the progress of this favorite sports teams and quoting relevant statistics to support his view that the Los Angeles Lakers were the greatest sports franchise of all time! From an early age, Paul excelled as a baseball player, and was referred to as a 'spark plug' while playing Little League ball. He was known for his unique and expressive sense of humor… He could be the life of the party! But James Brown was his all-time favorite entertainer – and Paul could (and would) demonstrate all the Godfather of Soul's moves! You couldn't help but smile when Paul was around.
A military veteran, Paul served in the United States Army and served a memorable tour in Hawaii, where he received medals and citations for being a rifle sharpshooter and a hand grenade expert.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother (Betty Ann Ritchie), grandmothers (Flora Lee Ritchie, Jenny Lee Taylor), grandfather (Joseph Taylor), brother (Stephon Ritchie), uncles (Floyd Ritchie, Donnie Ritchie, Lewis Ritchie Jr.) and aunts (LaVern Brown, Barbara Jean Turner, Dorothy Ritchie Mooore).
Paul is survived by his father Charles Ritchie (Shirley Rudolph Ritchie) of Cumming, Georgia; his sister Charlcye Ritchie Kimbrough (Reed Kimbrough) of Brookhaven, Georgia; five brothers: June Ritchie (Linda), Milton Winburn, Maurice Ritchie (Tara), Mitchell Winburn, and Mark Winburn – all of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter Paula Mason of Louisville, Kentucky; and a host of extended relatives who will never forget him.
