Paul Edward Coater

Paul Edward Coater, 66, of Falls of Rough, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023.

Paul was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Paul was an avid fisherman, enjoyed drawing, loved the Hallmark Channel, and was a University of Kentucky basketball fan. He proudly served his country in the US Marines for 23 years. He never met a stranger and had a contagious personality and a great but dry sense of humor. Paul will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born on May 30, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky to Ruby and James N. Coater, Sr. Along with his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his bonus son, Christopher Coater; siblings, Betty Sharp, Gary Coater, James N. Coater, Jr., and Sam Coater.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Darlene Coater; children, Christopher Hideki Coater, David Masaki Coater, Thomas Naoki Coater; bonus son, Jeffery (Tammy) Coater; siblings, Constance Coater, Timothy (Judy) Coater; bonus grandchildren, Jeffrey (Amber) Coater, II, Cassie Coater, Kevin (Savannah) Coater, Nick (Faith) Coater; 17 bonus great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of Paul's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the funeral home.
