Paul A. Bierly, 79, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, August 18 2013. He was a United States Air Force veteran, retired from Ashland Oil, and was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Louisville. Paul was an avid golfer and enjoyed vacationing in Florida. The most important thing in Paul's life was most definitely his faith and family.
Paul was born on July 26, 1934 in Elizabeth, Indiana to Mary (Ashton) Bierly and the late Paul W. Bierly. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Bierly. Along with his mother, he is survived by his wife of 28 years, Patricia A. (Ang) Bierly; children, Paula Gaddis (Darrell), Angela Holder (Doug), Mark Bierly (Jeannie); step-children, Mike Day (Delana), Sherry Murphy (Chris), Beth Nolan (Alan), Debbie Yarbrough (Tom), Barbie Day, Jeff Day (Cheryl), Terri Metzger (Todd); siblings, Richard Bierly (Sandy), Jim Bierly (Sheila), Gene Bierly (Nadine), Roger Bierly, Rowena Orme (Don), Mary Lou Summers (Paul), Shirley Fessel (Nick), Diane Frakes (Alan), Karen Drake; 21 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Wednesday after 9 AM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany) with burial and military honors to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Buena Vista, Indiana near Elizabeth.
