Patti Watts

July 6, 1952 — January 22, 2024

Patti Watts, 71, of New Albany, passed away in her sleep on Monday morning, January 22, 2024. Patti was a devout atheist with a passion for progressive activism. She was an avid reader, talented seamstress, extraordinary cook, and the matriarch for her beloved family. She worked in food service at NAFCS for over 25 years and supported numerous local organizations, including her favorite, the New Albany Floyd County Public Library.

In her final days, Patti expressed relief that she wouldn't have to suffer through the nauseating coverage of the 2024 election between two undeserving geriatric candidates.

She is preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, Tom; and her eldest child, Toby. She is survived by her children, Misty and Caleb; grandchildren, Anna, Austin, Clara, Della, Bleu and Elliott; and great grandchildren, Maddie, Logan, and Jade.

The greatest passion of her of life was being “Mawmaw” to her beloved grandchildren, whom she cherished and adored. She spent countless hours caring for them, teaching them the most important life skills, instilling core values, and fostering a love of reading. She gave them anything they wanted, every time they asked, for as long as she could. This was her mission and she carried it out with great zeal.

Per Patti's wishes, she has chosen to be cremated and there will not be a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to New Albany Floyd County Public Library.
