Patsy Ann Thompson

June 9, 1950 — October 9, 2024

Louisville

Patsy Ann Thompson, 74, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.

Born on June 9, 1950, in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, she was the cherished daughter of the late Ellis and Lorena (Jones) Barnett. Patsy joins her beloved brother, Mike Barnett, her brother Walter Barnett, cousin Delois Goosey, and her nephew, Ellis Clinton Barnett, in eternal rest.

Patsy is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 35 years, Gary Wayne Thompson Sr., her daughter Lucille Grady, and her stepsons, Gary Wayne (Ladonna Wallace) Thompson Jr. and Brian Scott Thompson. Her memory will also be cherished by her granddaughters, Allison Hayse, Maci Hayse, Laney Thompson, Hadley Thompson, Macy Nation, and Bella Thompson, along with her grandson, Gavin Thompson. She had a close and special bond with Tiffany Jones, the mother of Hadley, Gavin, and Laney, and her sister-in-laws, Kay Barnett and Kathy Barnett, along with her niece Jamie Barnett and nephews Michael and William Barnett, will continue to carry forward her spirit.

A true warrior, Patsy retired from Fort Knox Credit Union after facing yet another cancer diagnosis, demonstrating incredible strength since 1984. Her life was a tapestry of joy woven together with laughter, love, and a nurturing spirit. As a devoted wife, mother, and 'memaw', she touched the hearts of many, extending her kindness and warmth beyond her immediate family, as she became a second mother to several.

Patsy's passions were abundant; she was a devoted UK basketball fan, loved to travel, and cherished time spent with her family at Rough River. Her infectious love for life and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and appreciated will be dearly missed.

Visitation will take place from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday, October 17th, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy), followed by a Funeral Service at 6:00 pm.
