Patricia Rae (Pat) McGaughey of Franklin, TN (formerly of Simpsonville, KY and Zanesville OH) passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at the age of 91. The daughter of Powell Egan Dobbs and Ernest Tucker, she was born on May 18, 1933 in Louisville,KY. 

Pat is survived by her brother, Michael (Pat) Egan of Louisville, KY, daughters, Vicki (Kurt) Hamlin, Kathi (Mike) Stampley, both of Franklin, TN, sons, Sonny (Kris) McGaughey of Tavares, FL, Dean (Debbie) McGaughey, of Pickerington, OH, daughter-in-law, Mari McGaughey of Tavares, FL, grandchildren, Tim, Stephanie, Michelle, Brian, Stephen, Ashley, Jennifer, Michael, Marc, Kris, Kyle, Kory, Brandi, Scott, Mindi, Daun, Karri, great grandchildren Jordyn, Reid, Duke, Layni, Austin, Jadyn, Kayla, Trey, Kadie, Khloe, Elizabeth, Abigail, Natalie, Talia, and many nieces and nephews.

 She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph (Mac) McGaughey, son Donald McGaughey, sister Jean Beacham Caplinger, and brother James Egan.

 A one-of-a-kind mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Pat spent 30+ years of her life shaping young minds as a teacher and director of Kindercare (Zanesville, OH and Louisville, KY). All the children she encountered were family to her, and her impact on them immense. An accomplished seamstress as well, Pat made wedding dresses, prom dresses and countless comfy flannel blankets aptly named “Meem” blankets. If you were lucky enough to receive a “Meem” blanket, your heart was forever warmed by this lovely woman. A member of Southeast Christian Church and Franklin Christian Church, her kindness, sense of humor and unwavering faith weaved through all aspects of her life and interactions. Pat loved chocolate, milkshakes, being kind, serving others and making everyone she met feel comfortable and at ease.

Family & friends welcome Saturday, November 2nd at Newcomer Funeral Home Louisville East Chapel (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243). Visitation is from 9:00-11:00am. Service is 11:00am followed by interment at Grove Hill Cemetary in Shelbyville. The family would like to extend a special, heartfelt thank you to Visiting Angels and Alive Hospic
