Pastor Thomas George Franklin, 77, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
He was born on November 28, 1946 in Covington, Kentucky to Charles and Louise (Napier) Franklin. Tom was preceded in death by his mother and brothers, Gerald and Charlie Franklin.
Tom became a member of First Christian Church of Borden, Indiana after “retiring” from full time vocational ministry at Northside Christian Church, New Albany, IN. His life as a pastor began 55 years ago while studying at Kentucky Christian College, Grayson, KY. He ministered to churches in KY, OH and IN. Tom was President of New Life Christian Missions and dedicated many hours serving in that capacity in the US, India and Nepal. He was a proud Army Veteran and will be interred at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN. His proudest achievement was becoming a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Charlotte (Barrett) Franklin; sons: Pastor Joe (Jen), Jared (Amy), Andre (Rachel); grandchildren: Elijah, Noah, Micah Franklin, Anna and Rachel Benjamin, Macy, Mia, Riley Franklin, Jaden Hartley, Caleb and Luke Arkins; sister, Elizabeth I. Franklin (Dennis); brother, Jim (AKA Tex) Watters (Louella); sisters-in-law, Terry Franklin, Patty Franklin Bryant, Shirley Carlson, Linda Barrett; brother-in-law, Kelly Barrett (Jan); and numerous aunts, uncles nieces, nephews and extended family members and a foster sister.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024 at First Christian Church of Borden (1532 E. Water Street, Borden, IN 47106). His funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church with burial and military honors to follow at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
